About Trouvaille Creative
What's in a Name?
Trouvaille \ troo- vī \ is one of those French words that doesn’t translate perfectly to English. I’ve seen it defined as "something lovely discovered by chance" or “a chance encounter with something wonderful”, which is a much more fun and whimsical translation than what a standard English dictionary says. Webster simply defines it as "a lucky find" or “a valuable discovery.”
Coming up with a business name is HARD. I wanted to find the perfect name that reflected my passions, was somewhat easy to pronounce and, more technically, had an available url. After lots of researching and brainstorming I stumbled upon the French word "trouvaille" (which as it turns out, is not super easy to pronounce… but I still love it).
Why did I choose a French name? I have been a Francophile since the sixth grade when I took my very first intro to French class and fell in love with the language. That intro to French led to a lifelong obsession with the French language and culture (which you can read more about in my blog). During my transition period between my 9-5 job and starting my own business (in the summer of 2018), I finally made it to Paris, and of course I loved every second of my time there. So choosing a French name for my business just made sense.
